Why posts get deleted.
« on: July 23, 2018, 03:33:56 pm »
Curious and always have been why are some posts deleted?  If an admin doesn’t like the content let the poster know why what’s wrong and if it violates any terms of the forum. Otherwise no one knows. I do not think because someone complains is a valid reason at all. Especially if it is not a personal attack. Thanks looking forward to multiple admins responses.

Good luck with this.  I have tried a few times to find out why my April Fool's Day posts get deleted.  Multiple requests to multiple administrators.  All I asked for was the courtesy of a response.  Never heard a dang thing from them.  Nada.  Zilch.  Nothing.

“ Same reason a dog licks his privates-BECAUSE he can”.  Way more offensive than many post that get deleted.

What about “Real news stories” that might help kids in the future.  Cal Poly took back a scholarship offer to a kid because of a slur and flipping off at a protest rally for keeping families together.  What he said and did was stupid and maybir may not have had his 1st Ammendment rights violates but it certainly is a good teaching tool on how a kids stupidity in 5 seconds can cost him about $50,000.  I’m sure this will disappear in 3-2-1 also but we will see.

Agreed.  I used it as a teachable moment for my son, but I don't think I would have been aware of it if I hadn't read your post in the few minutes it was up.

Exactly why the younger generations are starting to take over, transparency.

Michael wright was kind enough to call me and talk about it and explained why posts were and are taken down. We had a really good conversation about that and a few other topics.

Given the subject matter and the emotions that flow in California high school wrestling, I think the posters on this forum do a pretty good job.  Seems that 99.99% of the posts are never deleted and there is a lot of interesting content.

I think it is appropriate that Lawson and Rodriguez get more latitude that others in the things they say because their good intentions towards the community are well documented in their previous many posts.  They also happen to be funny people.  So we are all equal, but some are more equal than others.  I believe this is based on merit and good judgement.

If Rydtime was satisfied after talking to Michael Wright, that is pretty good evidence that most or all of the decisions to take down posts are reasonable.  No organization is perfect.  But I think you can award the terms "fair and reasonable" to this group of monitors.
