Title: Youth Wrestling 2020-2021
Post by: CVTP-Adrian on June 08, 2020, 12:12:15 pm
Hello all... just want to get some feedback on events this upcoming year.  Obviously there are going to be some changes but the biggest change is IF school districts allow events to even happen on their campus.  Has anyone received any feedback from their school district?  I'll try to get some from a few of the schools we host from.  There is no doubt we want to host but at this point, at least for most, it won't be up to those that want to host.

As a consumer, will you still want to compete even if school districts wants us to jump over hoops?  One thing I do know, our normal insurer will not cover situations where wrestlers contract covid-19 or anything of the like so will you be willing to sign a waiver relinquishing your rights to sue if your wrestler were to contract and fall very ill at an event?

It is coming and many I know do not think most school districts will want to chance it (at least right now).  What are your thoughts???

You’re spot on about school districts will be hesitant or not willing to host a tournament. Since wrestling is “indoors & a contact sport” it’s hard to say it will be back in the near future. It’s a very sad reality that a season might not take place this calendar year.

Looks like USA Wrestling his having Folkstyle State March 12-14th.  So I'm assuming we will have the same season as before.  Maybe a shortened season.

State tournament date is locked up. But do we know if the associations can host local tournaments?

That is the question for most of us.  Will school disticts allow the use of campuses anytime soon? Sure there are a few who have access to off campus locations but vast majority do not.

The Northern California TOC is always held the weekend after high school state. This year that would make the TOC on June 19. This would mean we would have qualifying tournaments beginning AFTER the first of January 2021. Will Middle schools be going back in session on campus by then? Are middle school tournaments even going to be allowed this school year?
So the question is : Do we keep TOC after high school state or do we wait and make decisions as we learn about the progress of the COVID situation ?  Input needed and appreciated.

Looks like CIF is going to allow the pratice season to start on 2/8/21 instead of 3/20/21 but has yet to be confirmed
