With a 4 division tournament how would the divisions be broken down?

I'm guessing 4 tournaments of 12 teams.  4 pools of 3 teams at each tournament, 2 duals, then the undefeated teams go to a gold pool.

The State Duals invitational is starting to come together pretty nicely. CA-USA Wrestling is on board with supporting the event and will supply mats/clocks. The California Hall of Fame is also supporting the event. The deadline to submit your team contract and payment of $300 will be Nov. 1, 2019. It's looking like a 4 Division tournament at this point if the numbers hold up. Guaranteed three duals. Awards for top three in each division.

Ca. Wrestling Community, just a reminder that this event is scheduled for the 2019-20 school year- TWO seasons away. If you are on this list, please start thinking about any paperwork needed for board approval and budgeting for the trip.
The event is a single day format with a later start and relatively early conclusion time.
We will have an official contract in 2019 for participating teams.

The event has the potential to evolve into a state sanctioned which would be great for the sport of wrestling!

Lawson's right.  Keep CIF out.  Do it yourselves.  TCW is a way better platform to transact and communicate through anyways....do it here.  CIF needs a timeout on the whole girls and boys mixing at state this year anyways.  Lots of dough going to Fresno/Clovis schools because of their location in the state for these big tournaments.  Host school should get most of dough, but perhaps give some dough to deserving inner city coaches from each section that attends.....put it to a vote amongst the coaches in the section who gets the money.  $2,000.00 for an inner city program is a ton of money.  Why would CIF be needed by the way?

If CIF sanctioned, matches won't catch toward 40 and will be a LEGIT state level championship.
CIF would offset travel cost and there will not be entry fees.

CIF would offset travel cost??? They don't do it now for post season, what makes you think they would do it for duals (at least in our section)?

We get brutally slapped by CIF CS for post season cost! Lets put it out there-Division I pays $450 per team to attend Valleys, $25 per athlete to attend CS "Grand" Masters. I would love to share numbers with you about the increase in cost every year since I came to this section!

Our girls basketball team made a state game last year and got hotels, transportation, and meal money from CIF (although it does not cover everything-it was still something).

what kind of a format are you going to use.   At the Clash in MN, they use 4 - 8 team brackets (32 teams) and compete for spots in 8 separate divisions depending on your place in the initial bracket.  each team gets 6 matches.....something similar?

So would you be breaking up the divisions by size of school similar to what they do with football?  Maybe have one bracket (open division) for the top teams regardless of school size?  but smaller schools would have to petition to slug it out in the open division.  This will be awesome.

Four divisions of 8 team brackets totalling 32 teams
Divisions based on competitive equity and also separation of schools by leagues, divisions & sections to create the most interesting and exciting match ups.
Placement by state advisory committee reps and tournament staff. Each confirmed team will be asked to fill out a team status update form in early December, 2019. The information will be used by the committee for division placement.
Bracket release shortly after the new year 2020.
Three duals for every team.
1st round winners advance to semis, semi winners advance to finals for a shot at title.
Semi-final losing team wrestles for 3rd.
1st round losing teams can battle back for 5th.
Awards for top 3 teams in each division.
Team photos and awards ceremonies at the conclusion of the competition.

Can you expand on what you mean by this: "Divisions based on competitive equity and also separation of schools by leagues, divisions & sections to create the most interesting and exciting match ups."

Also, any thoughts about getting 5 duals in? Seems like leaving money on the table with all these programs only getting 3 duals, not 5.

Incredible work, Dr. Thank you.

I think 3 dual matches is just right. Remember, these will be 3 very TOUGH matches against some of the best wrestlers in California. Being so close to post season competition, you don't want your wrestlers getting injured so close to qualifying for the BIG ONE.

Breaking up by school size makes the most sense but there should be an "open" division as well for obvious reasons.
